Illuminize Peel

The Illuminize Peel is our gentlest peel — great for first-time chemical peel patients or patients looking for a gentle, very superficial peel to make their skin brighter and more radiant. It restores a more youthful appearance and improves clarity, color and skin texture . Patients achieve enhancement of the skin appearance with minimal downtime as there is no visible peeling.

Vitalize Peel

The Vitalize Peel is a step up from the Illuminize Peel and targets mild to moderate pigment abnormalities, hyperpigmentation, Melasma, and sun damage. It is SkinMedica’s most popular chemical peel and is suitable for all skin types. There is very little downtime (2 – 3 days of peeling) with results after just one peel and significant results after three to six peels.

Rejuvenize Peel

The Rejuvenize Peel is the deepest of the SkinMedica Peels, penetrating into the skin to produce significant results with minimal irritation. It is great for patients with moderate to severe skin conditions including sun damage, lines and wrinkles, acne, acne scarring and melasma. The Rejuvenize Peel produces moderate peeling for 2 – 5 days, so the downtime is slightly more than that of the Vitalize Peel.

Melanage Mini Peel

The Melanage Mini Peel and Skin Lightening System is designed specifically to treat pigment, especially melasma. The system consists of two parts: a masque applied in our office and an after-care medical-grade at-home regimen provided at your appointment. The masque is the first part of the lightening treatment and will be freshly compounded and applied at our office. This process usually takes approximately thirty (30) minutes. Patients leave our office wearing the mask and are given a specific time at which you will wash off the masque. The amount of time varies from 1 to 4 hours depending on each patient’s specific needs. Once patients return home, they remove the masque as directed and will then continue with the after-care products. Patients are responsible for adhering to an easy-to-follow, but strict, at-home regimen involving the application of several Melanage products over the course of thirty days to complete the treatment.

TCA Peel

Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peels are medium-depth peels that can effectively treat fine surface wrinkles, superficial blemishes and pigment problems and treatment can be fully customized for each patient’s skin.

TCA peels can be performed on patients of any skin type, and are considered ideal for those with darker skin. It can be performed on several different areas of the body, including the face, neck, chest and hands.

During the peel procedure, the skin is thoroughly cleaned before the peel solution is evenly applied to the targeted areas. Peel depth can be adjusted to ensure that each patient receives treatment that targets their individual needs. Some patients may be given Retin-A or hydroquinone to apply to the skin prior to treatment in order to maximize results.

Patients are sedated before their treatment in order to promote comfort and relaxation for their peel.

After a TCA peel, patients may experience tingling, throbbing, redness, swelling and scabbing, which usually last for about a week, depending on the strength of the peel. It is important for patients to protect their skin from the sun for several months after the peel in order to reduce the risk of complications and maintain desired results. Dr. Parker will provide you with specific post-treatment instructions.

The results of a TCA peel are visible after seven to 10 days as new skin layers form. Patients can return to work and other regular activities at this time. The skin may continue to appear slightly pinkish for several months before true results develop. Most patients notice smoother and fresher-looking skin after treatment, although these results do not last as long as those achieved with a phenol peel. Additional treatments may be recommended to reach desired results and maintain these results over the long-term.

Although a TCA peel is considered safe for most patients, there are certain risks associated with any type of treatment. Some of these risks may include infection, scarring and permanent pigmentary changes, among others. Patients can reduce these risks by following our instructions before and after the peel.
